2009 Earth Hour at UNIMAS

Earth Hour

28 March, 8pm worldwide is Earth Hour. This one hour voluntary blackout is an event to show the world leaders that we citizens really respond in stopping global warming.

At UNIMAS, there are several hostels organizing activities. In Malaysia, all lights are switched off at 8.30-9.30pm (Malaysia time is late by half an hour), with hostel members encouraged to switch off their lights.. Let’s enjoy the pictures!

We joined the celebration at Cempaka college briefly.

Even the café also switched their lights off and uses candles.

We are also lucky because the night was starry, despite being cloudy on an hour before.

with lights switched off, we have a magnificent night sky :)

Taking long exposures (up to 30s), thats why there’s motion blur

  3. chunfooy Says:

not bad earth hour, but if u use slow shutter remember to hook it on the tripod, it will look sharper.

  4. seeputksg Says:

Thanks for the advice.. But the problem is i dont have a fast lens. Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 DC OS, it’s about f/4.5 at 50mm, quite slow.

Even with tripod, with long exposures, movement of subject causes blur.. Hope an get a f/2.8 or faster lens soon..

By the way, pic #12 is featured in Earth Hour official website, http://www.earthhour.org :)
