In last post we have travelled around Kuala Lumpur to see how the shopping malls dress up for Chinese New Year. Covering Berjaya Times Square, Pavilion, One Utama and The Mines Shopping Fair, we fill in up more here with Suria KLCC, MidValley Megamall and The Gardens Mall

Our first stop is….

Pic 01 perhaps is the hundreds of millionth photos of same type taken already, so its nothing impressive. Lets move in!

Suria KLCC:

Entering from park side, we can see valentine’s day-themed decorations, mixed with Chinese New Year theme.

The decorations are quite plain, it only look nice coupled with the awesome background in the shopping mall itself.

MidValley Megamall:

Our next stop is MidValley Megamall. With big budget spent on Christmas decorations, we also expect the same for Chinese New Year:

MidValley emphasizes oriental theme blended with nature. Oriental monuments coupled with oversized flowers and dragonflies fills can be seen throughout the mall.

At the Center Court, there’s a stage, pagoda and small chambers or cabin.

MidValley Megamall is by far the hardest to take photo, flowers and dragonflies are everywhere. Bad angle chosen, you’ll end up with messy photo (almost like pic 10)

Personally i think they put up too much dragonfly. It look more like chaotic from storm or disaster rather than peace or joyous festive mood.

The Gardens Mall:

The Gardens Mall, just beside MidValley, has also dressed up for the festival as well.

Themed butterflies, The Gardens put simple and minimal themes, with butterflies on the Chinese-themed walls.

Butterflies = money fly away?

I suppose they ran out of budget?

Or they use very expensive materials?

Overall:

My favourite of all for this year is Berjaya Times Square (Chinese Old Town theme), followed by One Utama (Maneki Neko theme) and close behind is MidValley Megamall (oriental mixed with nature). Surprisingly, all but one mall (Suria KLCC) never put in Valentine’s Day decorations or themes, omitting all of them altogether.

I’m quite impressed with the decorations, as it really lives up the festive mood and it makes shopping with your family and you loved ones more enjoyable. Well, one question;

Where’s the tiger?

Lot 10:

Decorations in Lot 10 was expected to be mediocre, but at the main hall, there’s quite nice too:

Pavilion KL:

Our first destination was Pavilion actually. With grand decorations last Christmas so we would be eager to drop off here first to see how they are now.

Well, the Christmas tree was replaced with the cherry blossom.

The entrance hall is decorated with lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

The theme of pavilion this time is oriental theme, with slogan “Illuminate with Prosperity and Splendorous Style”

Birds are real too. No testicles this time

Pavilion doesn’t look nice this time compared to what they did on Christmas. Here they just reused the red carpet and the settings used in Royal Christmas, which was also in red.

“If take photo with Mr Funny so u will be always funny”, i think is the same person highlighted by sushi-guin last time. This time, he is just sitting there and people take photo with him. I wonder whether he is sleeping?

Berjaya Times Square:

Next we stop at Berjaya Times Square. They have two large lanterns at the main hall. The theme here is the olden days chinatown. You can also notice that red clothes are hanged on all the barriers at each floor, which makes the atmosphere here more like celebrating Chinese New Year compared to Pavilion.

I like the signboard very much

There’s a mini china town in the second hall. Shop buildings on the side and there’s a stage in front.

They even went as far as making electric poles, and also a pulling cart to transport people.

I was also lucky to see some performance there.

The Mines Shopping Center

Near my place, of course i wont be missing this. The theme here is Doraemon! Theme here is “Doraemon Brings Fortune to Mines”. Everywhere here you can see lanterns and banners.

One Utama:

I never wanted to go to One Utama as it is quite inconvenient to travel there using public transport. However, from what i read in The Star, it looks fascinating so it might worth the hassle to go there.

Theme of Chinese New Year here is…

Maneki Neko! It’s the year of tiger but the management thinks tiger will scare away all the visitors so they use their tamer siblings, the cat. Maneki Neko, or Beckoning Cat, welcomes everyone!

Theme here is “Celebrating paw-sperity”

Special here is the cat has soft furs (unlike ceramics) and also wears New Year outfit. There’s several Maneki Nekos here, and some have moles at on their face. All of them have tails curl to the front. I wonder if they have their own names as well.

They use fresh flowers here. They must have big budget this time to make such decorations over the whole shopping center.

What we are looking forward here is the at the main hall:

Gigantic lanterns and also “big boss” Maneki Neko sits here really makes me “wow” at the moment i see them. Really nicely decorated here!

Shopping Malls definitely spend big budget to celebrate Chinese New Year. Currently on top my list is One Utama, followed by the chinatown in Times Square.

I would visit Mid Valley and KLCC sometime soon to see how they fare against these two. Stay tuned for more!

Berjaya Times Square:

There are two sections here, at the lobby (Ground Floor) and another one at Lower Ground Floor.

A huge christmas tree rotates slowly. Below it is a gift shop.

A village covered n snow. There’s a stage for events and for children to take photos with Santa.

Suria KLCC:

Christmas in Suria KLCC has candies themed. It feels so sweet and wonderful when we stepped here.

MidValley Megamall:

MidValley Megamall is not losing either, with their medieval-themed Christmas.

Castles, trees, huts and candles fills the mall with christmas spirit.

Pavilion KL:

Pavilion KL is decorated extensively in the inside and outside. Just before the entrance, there’s reindeers made from wires and bulbs depicting a white and snowy christmas. Sure will look wonderful in the night. Dont worry, i’ll post the pictures of it during the night

The insides, themed Royal Christmas. Red carpet, royal-themed decorations filled the mall giving it a grand looking. The most ‘wow’s given when we first stepped into the mall.

Reindeers are modeled very realistically, from head to toe. However, what we found is more fascinating: it is in fact modeled very detailed, down to testicles as well!

Testicles at the crotch of the reindeer! We confirm the reindeers are male. But where’s the penis?

So obscene, people laughs when they realize we are taking pictures of this. Thumbs up to Pavilion!

The thigh is build from five parts, with sliding mechanism for upper part of the thigh, just like Infinite Justice Gundam.

The knee is four parts; with two of them connects to the lower leg.

Lower leg consist of two plastic and two polycaps.

Leg completed. It can bend as shown as in picture.

The part that connect the legs to the body consist of three parts; two plastic and one polycaps.

The part connects the leg with the waist.

At this point the connected legs can’t stand on its own, unlike Infinite Justice. So we just use a Gundam Marker to make it a tripod..

This part connects the leg to the foot. consist of three parts.

Skeleton for the foot consists of fout parts, with the completed one shown at the front. The foot for left and right side is different.

Finally it stands! With the foot, the skeleton now stands.

Compared with Infinite Justice Gundam, the legs looks very slim, from my experience of assembling it last time.

The lower part of body connects to the waist. Consist of a ball joint.

The three parts connect together. the part at the right is used to hold and dock the Core Fighter of Impulse Gundam.

The gundam stands a bit taller now.

We are eager to pose the skeleton in flying mode, so we get a part to hook it up with the Action Base and the gundam. there are parts to mount the body, core fighter, the legs and silhouette pack to the action base.

The parts connects easily with the skeleton.

Mounts without a problem, the skeleton is now flying! we can do more aerial poses like…

More importantly, the legs does not fall off while is being mounted horizontally.

Next part will be the assembly of the Core Fighter of Impulse Gundam.

pic 01: MG Sword Impulse Gundam

ZGMF-X56S/B Sword Impulse Gundam also appears on Gundam Seed Destiny series. Impulse Gundam is a versatile unit and can be equipped with different backpack according to needs, just like the Strike Gundam. There are three backpacks/configurations that appeared in the anime: the force impulse, sword impulse and blast impulse.

Main attractions to this gundam kit is compared to others:

• Backpack – Sword Impulse backpack consists of twin boomerang and also two “Excalibur” anti-ship sword.
• Can be disassembled into four separate units – chest flyer, leg flyer, core splendor and silhouette flyer
• Asymmetrical foot design

What attracted me, of course, is the two anti-ship swords! Also included is a conversion part that enables Striker packs from Strike Gundam to be attached to the Impulse Gundam. Aile Strike Impulse anyone?
