MG RX-78GP02A Physalis Completed Model
Master Grade RX-78GP02A “Physalis” Coating version is a repainted version and sells for 2000 yen more expensive than the original. Does the paint job worth the extra 2000 yen tag?
One important note of this MG kit (both usual and this coating version) is that:
1)shield is too heavy to be carried by hand
2)When shield is put on the ground, the hand of the gundam cannot grab it because it is too low. One of the solution is to mount the shield on something to increase its height, or more simple, just mount it on the feet of Physalis. It’s a bit weird.
Evil!
Shield, mounted on leg
Looked more sturdy with the shield
GP02A’s beam saber is green in colour, unlike the pink color for most gundam kits.
Atomic bazooka consist of two parts, one is mounted on right shoulder and another one is stored inside of shield.
I painted the inside of the rocket verniers with metallic red, and the mouth of the nozzle is painted with chrome silver. Notice the pipe is also painted chrome silver.
I choose not to paint whole thing to let certain parts shine more.
The hand of Physalis can reach the beam saber.
Now, we look at the iconic weapon of Physalis, the atomic bazooka!
The length of combined bazooka easily exceed the height of Physalis itself.
One important thing to note here is about the shield. It’s terribly heavy to be handheld. My solution? Mount it on Action Base!
Being an old model, Physalis isn’t quite compatible with the Action Base.
No mounting for the shield (necessary to avoid being hand carried), and the bracket to mount into Physalis’ hip eventually limits the movement of the leg.
This cannot achieved without Action Base! Two is required, one for the gundam and another for the shield.
GP02A’s nemesis, GP01Fb seems frustrated not being reviewed first despite is model 01!
Overall, what i like about this model is:
1) very sturdy, with very large feet it is very stable.
2) massive and intimidating
3) green beam saber!
What i would like to be improved if there is version 2.0 is:
1) Improve the shield!
2) Add details and articulation, also mounting to Action Base
More pictures to come, and look forward to GP01fb vs GP02A!
